The Downtown Austin Alliance (DAA) is excited to announce that Dewitt M. (“De”) Peart will become the president and CEO of the organization effective Feb. 2, 2015. Peart replaces Charlie Betts who is retiring after 18 years of service with the organization.

The MetroRail Red Line, Capital Metro’s 32-mile commuter rail service from downtown Austin to Leander, is bursting at the seams. Since launching in 2010, ridership has quadrupled, rising over 225% in the last three years alone. Trains are often at standing-room only during rush hours.
