Merck’s IT organization recently announced plans to open a technology and innovation center in Austin as a key anchor in the city’s Innovation District. With its upcoming move to Austin, Merck has also made addressing employee commute options a priority. “Austin will become our newest tech innovation hub,” the company said. “Employees from the Austin hub will join colleagues from our Branchburg, N.J.,Prague and Singapore hubs engaging with top tech minds from across our company, academia, start-ups and the health care community to break new ground in the digital health space.”

As a leader in its industry, Merck is also leading the way among employers in Austin by making mobility options accessible for the roughly 600 employees it will bring with its expansion into Austin. More and more employers, with the help of Movability Austin and its partners, are exploring mobility policies that can reduce the number of single-occupant vehicles clogging our streets, make the city a more vibrant and safe environment, and help take back time and money lost to lengthy commutes.
