In an effort to improve mobility and traffic flow through Downtown Austin, the City of Austin is planning to convert E. 5th Street between Brazos Street and the Southbound I-35 Frontage Road, and Colorado Street, from Cesar Chavez Street to Ninth Street,  from one-way traffic to two-way traffic. The E. 5th Street conversion is expected to begin in August 2017, while the conversion along Colorado Street is anticipated to start in early September 2017.

City staff is coordinating with the Downtown Austin Alliance to meet with property and business owners along these corridors to discuss the project and respond to any questions and concerns. You are invited to open house meetings regarding these two projects.
