The City of Austin and Capital Metro recently launched Smart Trips: Central Austin, a program aimed at helping Central Austin area residents reduce their drive-alone car trips and provide them with greater knowledge of the transportation choices available in their area.
The City of Austin and Capital Metro are partnering to deliver the Smart Trips Austin program to 12,000 households with a focus on managing congestion by encouraging more trips by carpooling, walking, bicycling and transit. Households in the priority community will receive an order form inviting them to choose a number of resources focused on walking, bicycling, bus, rail and carpooling.
In order to measure the success of the program, participants will be asked to complete a pre- and post-program survey to measure the change in travel behavior in the priority community. ATD staff will measure transportation mode shift, as well as change in intent and confidence as it relates to transportation choices.
