Odds are that if you go to prison and are lucky enough to get out, you will be going back sometime soon. Julio Medina, however, beat the odds. A drug-dealing gang leader when he entered prison, Julio left 12 years later a changed man. He created Exodus Transitional Community, a program in Harlem dedicated to breaking the cycle of incarceration that ensnares so many. The trick to Exodus is that its staff knows firsthand what it is like to go to jail. "HARD ROAD HOME" tells the story of this high-risk, high-drama world and the extraordinary task of turning around the fate of any person born into it. Directed by Macky Alston. Discussion to follow screening.

Dozens of contestants vie to be the best in the only competition where everyone uses "an imaginary guitar that rocks for real." Performers with air guitar personas bring their own themes, stylized costumes, "playing technique," and song choice to the stage to rally the crowd and try to impress the judges, who critique their "airness." Air guitar has been around almost as long as rock music itself. Only during the last decade has the world stage grown to include an organized competition in the US.

This two part exhibition focuses both on the artworks of Sol LeWitt and on his personal collection of contemporary art. Sol LeWitt: Structure and Line documents the full arc of the artist's career.
Renowned for his contribution to minimalism and conceptual art, LeWitt's pencil drawings, brilliantly colored gouaches, and "structures" made of wood, aluminum, and fiberglass have defined and pushed the limits of art-making for over forty years.
Throughout his career critics have admired how his work synthesizes left and right brain creativity and provokes both intellectual and emotional responses. Selections from the LeWitt Collection showcases works by an exciting array of national and international artists including Alice Aycock, Bernd and Hilla Becher, Alighiero Boetti, Chuck Close, Gilbert & George, Hans Haacke, Eva Hesse, On Kawara, Shirin Neshat, and Robert Ryman.
LeWitt x 2 has been organized by the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art.
